History

The International Medical Fund Trust is a special purpose New Zealand offshore trust facility domiciled in the British Virgin Islands (BVI). The corporate trustee IMF Trustees Limited is based in and operates in NZ and the UK.

The trust is one of only two such offshore structures established specifically to serve the international private medical insurance sector.

Since its establishment in 1999 the International Medical Fund Trust facility has been used by both international and multinational private sector entities to facilitate a variety of medical, dental, travel and other special purpose group benefit programs that have either met or exceeded expectations.

The trustee administrator works together with major international insurers and reinsurers with respect to obtaining necessary level of insurance cover required - if any.

What is the cost of establishing a group health trust program through the IMF Trust?

There are no facilitation or establishment fees or costs involved in either the design of the program or its facilitation through the trust. The trustee charges a modest administration fee for managing a program on behalf or in conjunction with an employer or benefits provider.
